Of course, being New Year's Eve, here are two photos taken two years ago at midnight. The first shows the crowd at the Pont au Change near the Chatelet watching the fire works at the Eiffel Tower way down river. The second shows the Conciergerie from across the river also at midnight.

We have been away for a few days for the holidays but we are beginning our twice/thrice weekly posting of favorite photos of Paris.

Below is a photo of a children's book that we took in a book store. For those of you who do not know French the title is "When Papa Was Little, There Were Dinosaurs". We thought it was cute and we hope that you do too.

Still in keeping with the holiday season, here are several photos taken last year in Paris. The first is a view from the Champs de Mars of the Eiffel Tower. It is taken between the columns of the monument for Peace at the southern end of the Champs just across from the École Militaire.

The second is the Christmas tree in front of Notre Dame a year ago also. There are always many people in front of the cathedral, whether waiting on line to get in or just there to see the sights.

Since it is the holiday season, I have chosen several that I found amusing almost two years ago. The first was taken just off the place de la Bastille on the rue Staint Antoine. I didn't stay around to see if Santa made it into the apartment.

The second was a greeting for the New Year in the restaurant Hippopotamus on the place de la Bastille.

Occasionally, one will see shops that were originally pharmacies or food stores that have been converted into shops for other uses. Here is one that was a bakery and is now a clothing store. It is found in the Marais where there are several examples of this.

Last Spring at the Renault and Peugeot showrooms along the Champs Élysées, there were a number of racing cars on display. Here are photos of two of them, one from each company. Would love to be able to drive one of them.
