Have you ever wondered how people are able to move out of/into an apartment in Paris, given the small elevators and frequently narrow stairs? Out walking one afternoon, we discovered how it is done. You can see here in these photos. They use a type of elevator-like ladder that can go up to the highest floor of most Parisian buildings. Notice the workers waiting at the top for the arrival of furniture.

Below, you can see a load arriving at the top floor.

Finally, one of the workers gives me the OK sign that the delivery had succeeded

Found this little shop near the Gare de Lyon. Never did find out what a Sushi Bagel was since they always seemed to be closed when I was walking by.

It must be tough to steer the car with only one hand and arm. Wonder where the fifth finger went? Maybe knocked off by a passing truck.

The next time you are in the Marais stop off at the Café Charlot on the corner of the rue de Bretagne and the rue Charlot. It is a lovely place to have coffee or a drink.

The last time we were there we had a cappuccino and a hot chocolate.

I know that it is not the time of year for these photos, but last Fall we discovered a wonderful place for lunch. It is the restaurant in the Musée des Arts Decoratifs called Le Saut du Loup. In the summer, you can dine on the terrace with views of the Caroussel, the Tuileries, the Louvre, and even the Eiffel Tower. The food was very good and a bit creative. The menu is not cheap, however.

Paris has some of the most well-decorated public toilets that I have ever seen. There are also some very pretty "toilettes" in some of the restaurants. The photos below include the public toilets that are located just to the side of the Madeleine church and the toilets of a restaurant near the Luxemburg Gardens that shall remain nameless. Notice that the Madeleine location has a chair for shoe shining and some rather nice plants for decoration. It is a uni-sex facility with attendants to keep it clean. They do a very good job, too.

Here are some recent car photos. The first is interesting for its advertising. The second is a prototype of a new car, The third shows how you can park a Smart car when there isn't enough room to parallel park.

On one of the side streets near the Gare D'Orsay Museum there is a children's store where I took the following photos. The bears themselves are delightful, but the poses are really super. They seem to be looking right at you.
